Chicago - People that reside in a Chicago apartment whose building will be in the iris of the NATO hurricane are being warned that they should move out for the weekend ... Or risk being surrounded within by rioters.
FOX Chicago News was first to report Friday that the folk living in the 17-floor Library Tower building at 520 South State Street were warned in a letter from condo management that "we are STRONGLY recommending that all residents find places to go to during the meeting from May 18 through May 21."
NATO peaks frequently attract lots of thousands of objectors. Now, a march is pencilled in on Sunday, May 20, from the Petrillo Band Shell in Grant Park past Library Tower on State Street to McCormick Place.
The condo is hiring 2 off-duty cops to provide security ; those cops will be armed.
"In the event of a riot or the potentiality of one close to the building, all access doors will be locked including the garage door," the letter continues. "For everybody's safety, we will be teaching any person in the building to remain in his or her unit."
"I can't just leave my garage when I want. They are going to be holding us hostage in here," asserted resident Sebrina Krielinger.
The apartment is in a busy area on State between Harrison and Congress, and residents are used to rather a lot.
"It's just pretty stunning to hear and see things are going to be scary in your own home," declared resident Jeff Lunz. "I think they have got everybody's best interest in mind."
The letter also warns :
"We are strongly suggesting that you do not have any guests over in this time including dog walkers and cleaning companies."
"There will be no deliveries or moves authorized between Fri., May 18 and Monday, May 21."
"The revolving door will be locked on Fri. morning."
"I'm bothered by parades and lots of other things. I cannot get out on the day of the Thanksgiving Day parade. So that is just a part of city life," said Lunz.
